NEVER LET YOUR GUARD DOWN

A couple of years ago I had taken these vitamin supplements which said would help regulate your blood pressure. It was a really big pile, but I took vitamins like that all the time so I didn't think anything of it, I just swallowed it down. When I did that it started to feel as if it was stuck in my throat, so I continue to drink water in hopes to push it down. All this was happening as I was traveling home from work so I didn't have the option to bring it back up (sorry I hope I didn't gross anyone out). Let me just say I didn't have a lot of options at that point!

Now keep in mind that I had a 45 minutes to an hour commute home and when I finely arrived home I was having this same issue. You know hindsight is only 20/20: when I think about it now within 45 minutes to an hour that vitamin would have dissolved already. However by the time I arrived home I was in panic mode and fear had taken over me. I remember saying Lord whatever this is please move it. Then fear said to me you can't breathe (yup I said it fear spoke to me) the Bible says that fear is a spirit that can come upon you. Now fear was having a field day telling me I can't breathe ( even though I was breathing) telling me I was going to pass out at any moment (even though I was wide awake). Let me tell you I was having a moment and I was not thinking clearly.

Well I couldn't take it anymore so off to the emergency room I went. That was big for me because I didn't go to the emergency room. Don't get me wrong I'm serious about my health that's why I make doctors’ appointments and go for my scheduled check-ups. However emergency rooms are not my cup of tea. I believe that would be the second time I went to the emergency room. The first time I was a teenager and mother made me go so I didn't have a choice in the matter. This would be my first visit as an adult and at my own free will. Well to make a long story short, I went to the emergency room, and they gave me a MRI because just looking down my throat they didn't see anything. I truly think they did the MRI because I had insurance; when I went to see my primary doctor she came up with that same conclusion. Needles to say nothing was lodged in my throat and I wasted a few hours and few thousands of dollars in the emergency room!

Listen the spirit of fear is real, it can cripple and debilitate you if you're not aware. I was dealing with another situation during that time which was very emotional for me, so my guard was down. The Bible says that your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. There I was so wrapped up in my situation (instead of giving it to God and let him handle it) I was an easy target for the adversary. The Bible says the thief comes only to steal and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). I thank God that I know him and He knows that I belong to him because although the enemy seek to devour me, God stepped in and said not so.

People of God, listen! You must always be aware of the adversary, no matter what you’re going through. The word of God is sharper than a two edge sword; when the enemy comes to attack you use your weapon! When your adversary attacks you with fear, tell him God did not give me the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7) When your adversary threatens, you tell him No weapon formed against me shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against me in judgment thou shalt condemn. Don't let the issues of life make you forget that you're on the battlefield because the adversary won't!
