Say Yes To The Rest!

Posted on 2 August, 2015 at 22:45

The Word of God says come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Mathew 11:28). Life has away of pulling you in all different kinds of direction. The hustle and bustle we endure in our work lives, ministry lives, and personal lives is enough to make anyone just tired! Have you ever been so tired that you couldn't even think straight? No seriously! I am talking so tired that someone asked you your full name, and your mind is completely blank and you can't answer. I'm talking so tired that you can't even see straight and reading is a challenged because all the words are blurry.

I see so many people trying to push through the tiredness (even me!) and just keep on working. They drag themselves through to complete daily tasks day after day. After a while you see their joy diminishing and their demeanor, and countenance is completely fatigue. Once the steam has ran out then the forgetfulness and memory lost begin to set in. You start dropping the ball left and right, because your mind is so tired it's not holding on to information. Then you become Mr. or Mrs. Sorry! You know when you find yourself apologizing to everybody because you forgot to do something. Personally for me when I promise someone I'm going to do something and they come to me and it's not done I feel so horrible. I try to be a woman of my word if I say it I will do everything in my power for my word not to come back to me void ( it's the God in me).

I know that we sometimes think we are super heroes (I'm more of a wonder woman) and we can do it all. I know that there are some who will say " we can do all things through Christ Jesus" please understand that Christ Jesus is doing the all things. That's why Jesus said come to me all who are labor and heavy laden so He can take it and give you rest. It is clear that our Lord and savior does not want us operating in absolute exhaustion. Why? Because you cannot not be completely competent in life, work, family and ministry in an exhaustive state.

I can testify to my last statement because I’ve experienced it for my self ( truthfully I am pushing through it right now). True story I'am an absolutely servant for God, I try to help everyone around me who is in need. I started a prayer hotline for people who are in distressed and in need of prayer or spiritual council. I still work full time, I had responsibility to my church as a leader, I was working in the ministry God gave me, working to promote my book and booklet, studying and preparing for speaking engagements and dealing with personal and family life. Needless to say I was tired and completely on E. To make a long story short, I missed a good number of calls on my hotline. People were calling for help and the help was not there. This one lady called and left a message how she was being tormented by her pass and she needed help. My God when I tell you that I wept, I kid you not. The fact that I was not there for this lady and when I tried to call back her phone was disconnected just hurt me to the core. My motto is Women On The Wall Answering The Call and then to not answer the call, Really! Listen it's great to offer services but what does it profit if it's not effective. You become like sounding brass you're just making noise not music. God understands that we get tired and sometimes we need rest. Jesus sent out the disciples and after they had labored much he took them away to rest! Remember Jesus is our example He came that we may have life and life more abundantly. People of God listen in the book of Proverbs it tells us there is a time for everything. I believe there is a time to work hard and exercise our gifts. However there is also a time to rest because in your exhaustion you will not be fully effective. I pray that if you are labored and heavy leaden that you go to the Father so that He can give you rest. In layman terms Go On Vacation! if you can go away do it, if not stay home turn off the phones, computers and whatever else and Rest!
